Very often just a few ingredients are all that’s needed to make a really flavourful and comforting meal with minimum effort. Get a spoon and dig in! I used canned borlotti beans, making this recipe a total cinch to put together, but broad beans, butter beans or chickpeas would work beautifully. If desired, add a tablespoon of honey to make it sweet and spicy. Serve with a steaming bowl of saffron scented rice or crusty bread for an even more substantial meal.
Sherry-glazed Chorizo and Borlotti Beans
adapted from
Delicious Magazine
- 2 tsp Olive oil
- 125 g Dried chorizo, sliced
- 80 ml Dry sherry
- 400 g Canned borlotti beans, rinsed, drained
- 2 tbsp Flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped
- Salad greens, to serve
|
- Heat olive oil in a frypan over medium-high heat. Add chorizo and cook, turning, for 3-4 minutes until crisp. Add 3/4 of sherry, then cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes or until chorizo is glazed and the liquid has evaporated.
- Add borlotti beans and remaining sherry, then cook, stirring occasionally, for a further 5 minutes or until borlotti beans are warmed through.
- Sprinkle over chopped parsley, season and serve warm over a bed of greens.

...this is something to try, thanks Angie.
I cooked beans today as well!
This looks yummy, and good for the cold weather at my house this week.
Aunque es un plato sencillo, también es contundente, apto para hacer un buen ejercicio después, ya que dará mucha energía. Muy bueno.
Interesting.
che buoni!!
I love a salad with legumes - it makes it so hearty and filling. Being from the South, I think I'd want homemade corn bread with it. Yum!
It looks hearty and delicious, thanks for sharing Angie!
Take care, have a great day!

O aspecto está muito bom Angie bjs.
We love chorizo in this house. Your dish looks delectable!
I'm sure the chorizo made these beans extra flavorful!
That looks tasty, I'll have to give it a try.
That sherry-glazed chorizo and borlotti beans recipe sounds like a deliciously simple way to create big flavors with minimal fuss
That looks like another winner to me, yum!
Gracias por la receta. Te mando un beso.
This looks so interesting! Thanks so much for sharing.
Finding dry Sherry in South Africa has become so difficult as our local producers stopped making it. Sounds like a hearty meal.

I have never heard of those beans before, but I imagine I could find something that would be a decent substitute. I like dishes with beans and sausage. I usually make my own chorizo, which would not be in a casing, but the flavor should still be on target.
Looks incredibly satisfying and full of flavor—definitely a meal to savor! 🍽️😋
This recipe is a perfect example of simple ingredients coming together to create something truly satisfying. The balance of spicy chorizo with tender beans and a hint of sherry sounds comforting and timeless—just the kind of meal that feels like home.

Oh so wonderful! thanks so much!
I hope someday they will make a garlic-free chorizo. I would love to try this, as the flavors sound amazing. David (C & L)
So true, Angie. A dish can be plenty tasty without being complicated! Especially if chorizo is on the ingredients list…
Looks good Angie.
All the best Jan
