- Line a 15x25-cm rectangular pan with a plastic film. Place chopped prunes, nuts, cocoa powder, Ovaltine chocolate malt powder and sea salt in a blender or food processor. Pulse a few times until all the ingredients come together.
- Add in homemade vanilla extract and pulse until it reaches a dry but moist dough consistency. Scrape the mixture into the lined pan, press evenly with a rubber spatula, and chill for about an hour before cutting into bars.

This type of bar, made with natural ingredients, is what I need during the school runs (back to school soon in the UK). I make breakfast for the kids, lunch for my husband + kids, but I never have time to eat MY breakfast!! Another delicious and healthy recipe, Angie. Thanks
i really like this recipe.. with the dry fruits... and the small amount of cocoa.. these are perfect to make a batch and then reach out for the mid-meal hunger pangs!!
Easy and flavorful! I like everything with prunes and with cashews..should be really yummy.

Hi Angie, this bar look really good, yum yum. Thanks for the awesome recipe.
Have a nice weekend.
I like the soft and crunchy mix of texture. I don't have prunes :( I'll try it with dates and hope it works. This type of energy bars are better to munch on instead of what I munching on now, LOL! Thanks for the healthy and easy version Angie, you're a star :)
Wonderful bars! Those look so moreish, delicious and healthy. A fabulous treat.

Rosa

These are goooood and healthy Angie! Nice recipe!
These sound fantastic. I am trying to find some "Breakfast on the go" meals and I think these would work great.
I love when I come across a good "raw" recipe. This will certainly be made to compliment my workout schedule. And, I keep Ovaltine around--a favorite from my childhood:-)
These look so amazing & healthy ... I actually was a raw vegan for about three months, a few years back. I loved the lifestyle but it was too hard to keep up with along with life and other "things". Still love the raw concept, though ... Happy Sunday !
Oh my goodness!!! This looks delicious! Bookmarked, and will definitely make! Hopefully soon.
Sorry for not commenting yet, Angie. Our Internet is in and out for the last couple days, so I'm lucky now to be able to comment, but the tropical storm is getting worse for today, and tomorrow!
Love, love your raw energy bar that I'm anxious to make asap! The only thing I will leave out is the Ovaltine, and just use all cocoa powder. Since I was a kid...never got the hang of this malt flavor, just like Root Beer, another flavor is not my favorite! Photos are very creative and beautiful...as always! xo
I love knowing whats truly in there without the preservatives! these are so healthy and look delicious!
This is so great. I like to snack on energy bars before a run, and this recipe sounds really easy to make. These look wonderful and look like they have a nice texture to them as well!
I've been wondering how to make something like this---thank you SO much for sharing ;)
I love it. If I can find the malt chocolate powder, I will make it. Any substitute just in case? I am not a big fan of prunes but I am sure it will taste good when combined with all the other goodness. And they are good for you so I should just eat it without complaining :)
hi angie, i do enjoy eating these kind of bars! i can imagine it tastes a little fragrant too with the added malt powder. this sounds simple to make!
I feel like this would put an end to my naughty treats craving. I would just start craving these!

I just tried a chocolate fig spread which I liked. So I have no doubt I would LOVE these. Perfectly fudgey and chewy! A great snack! : )
I have not tried making energy bars before, I should bake less and do this instead huh! Definitely more healthy!
What a healthy, delicious way to satisfy my sweet tooth! These look excellent, Angie~

Beautiful energy bars! I love nuts and figs together - and it requires no cooking? Perfect! These would be a great on-the-go snack.
Now this is what I call scrumptious Angie.

Fruity and nutty! I like, I like! A couple of batches made over the weekend would really go a long way! Great recipe! :)
You had me at figs! I love anything with a fig in it. :)
The malt powder and cocoa must make these taste super indulgent even though they're filled with such healthy ingredients! Mmm.

@CJ - Food Stories
I know somebody who gives her child only raw fruits to eat, and that since ever. the boy is 6 years old, always eating raw fruits, always going to the toilet and he looks so breakable.
Its for sure though!
These look great and sound amazing too! I quite like raw food but haven't tried making any of my own yet.
I am a big fan of Ovaltine! These raw energizing bars delight me thoroughly! :)

Oh I need one of these right now! My brain hurts from work today! Ovaltine! I haven't seen this in years, but I always think of the movie "The Christmas Story". :) I bet the Ovaltine adds a great flavor to these bars.

HI Angie, I have not seen anything made with Ovaltine for quite some time now! I wonder if I can even find it in the stores. Perhaps I can use Milo powder instead. This recipe looks easy and very healthy. I would love to try make them for a healthy treat for the kids.

This bar is exactly what I've been looking for. My son juices every morning and just needs a little bit of something else to grab on the go. It has to be healthy, so this is absolutely perfect!
I've done something similar before, but I LOVE that you added Ovaltine to it--that is genius! I bet it gives the bars such a yummy, malty flavor.
Yum, Angie! These are just bursting with healthy carbs and many other nutrients for the athlete. I'm impressed by the raw qualification as well. Brava!
bookmarking this! sounds like the perfect snack!
I made something similar using dates or figs but never tried prunes, what a great idea Angie!
Delicious looking bar, I love everything in there and smiled to see Ovaltine, we always had Ovaltine for my Dad, his favorite!
That looks pretty amazing and irresistble!!!!

Alessandra
What a delicious looking energy bars! Loving it very bit. Hope to have a few right away. haha....
Have a wonderful weekend, dear.
Blessings
Kristy
Perfect treat for our hikes! I need to make these!
Yum these sound so good. I love granola bars and these are packed with nutrients and they're naturally sweet.
One thing though about the raw nuts- these won't last long before the nuts go bad so refrigeration would be helpful. Also raw nuts often harbor rodent eggs unless stored in the refrigerator or freezer to kill them off. I found this out the hard way. I posted it on my blog.
Great recipe. Looking forward to trying it.
I have always wanted to make a protien bar, and this one sounds like one we would love to eat!
I love raw bar recipes, they sound so easy to make, yet they look so beautiful:-) Love your recipe, Hugs, Terra
Man, oh man, some weeks, I think I need a stack of those bars to make it through till Friday. LOL These look so satisfying and fueling.
Fantastic! I'm in need of a good homemade energy bar recipe, actually, since life is incredibly busy (good busy) at the moment. These look like just the right balance of something that feels like a treat but is packed with good stuff!
so youre telling me that if i eat this for breakfast, ill have energy to endure 6 hours of classes? SWEET!
Love this, cannot wait to make some for snacking at work! thanks for the idea and inspiration.
HI Angie, I love energy bars. I recently made these raw bars with chia seeds, lemon and coconut: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=459702470770468&set=a.392053260868723.92236.392038604203522&type=1&theater
