Light and floral lavender cupcakes are fun, delicious and beautiful! If you are looking for a light dessert for entertaining, these moist and light cupcakes are truly perfect. The cake base is lavender flavoured, sweetened with honey and erythritol and crowned with a cream cheese frosting.
While lavender plays an important role in cosmetics, the plant is often used to flavour dishes in Mediterranean cuisine. They can be found in teas and lemonades, in marmalade, in cakes or as a special flavouring in savoury meat dishes. Conjure up a Provence ambience with these delicate cupcakes and enjoy the extraordinary combination of flavours.
Batter | Frosting |
- 125 g Butter, softened
- 50 g Erythritol or raw sugar
- 50 g Honey
- A pinch of salt
- 1 Eggs
- 180 g White spelt flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 2 tsp Lavender
- 150 ml Whole milk
|
- 200 g Philadelphia full fat cream cheese
- 50 g Butter, softened
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 100 g Powdered sugar
- A few drops of violet food colouring
- Fresh lavender to garnish, optional
- Honey to drizzle, optional
|
- Line a standard 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners. Set aside. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
- Place the softened butter in a mixing bowl, add in the erythritol, honey and salt. Beat until light and airy. Add the eggs and continue to mix until the mixture is lighter in colour.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder and lavender. Mix half of the flour mixture to the butter-egg mixture. Pour in milk, mix briefly, then the remaining flour mixture. Mix until you have a smooth batter. Divide the batter among the muffin cups.
- Bake in the middle of hot oven for 20-22 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean. Remove the cupcakes, allow to cool slightly, remove from the tray and leave to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Beat the cream cheese, butter and vanilla until creamy, well-combined, and lump-free. Add powdered sugar and a few drops of violet food colouring. Beat until completely combined.
- Fill a piping bag with a nozzle (I used Wilton 1M) and scrape the frosting into the bag. Pipe the mixture onto the cupcakes and decorate with extra lavender and drizzle with honey if using.

Those are sure pretty, I'll have four to go please!
Yes, this is something I would not like, as much as I think it looks pretty, lavander is just not something I would put in my mouth, just in the soap LOL Our lavenders are actually starting to bloom right now, we have a massive one, like one meter in diameter, and a few smaller ones.
...Angie, they are beautiful, but I'd like one with out the frosty, please.
Estos cupcakes deben ser una delicia de sabor, la espelta me gusta mucho y la lavanda también. Y quedan muy bonitos visualmente.
