Minced Beef Curry

The great thing about curry is the wide variety of flavours: this recipe with minced beef and garden peas goes well with a mild curry. Spicy, warming, nutritious and simply delicious--a must for cold days. Serve it with steamed rice, naan, noodles or potatoes. Besides garden peas, you can also use Brussel sprouts, spinach or winter squashes.

 
  • 2 tbsp Mild curry powder
  • 1/3 tsp Sea salt
  • 500 g Minced beef
  • 5 stalk Spring onions
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Chilli pepper
  • 1/3 tsp Cinnamon
  • 150-200 ml Broth
  • 400 g Tinned chopped tomatoes
  1. Mix half of the curry powder and salt in a bowl. Add the mince and mix well. Leave to marinate for about 20 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, chop the white part of springs. Finely slice the green parts and set aside. Peel and chop the garlic. Halve the chilli pepper lengthways, deseed, cut into long strips and dice into very small cubes.
  3. Heat a large skillet until hot. Add in the marinated beef mince and cook until completely browned all over. Add the white part of spring onions, garlic, chilli pepper, remaining curry powder and cinnamon powder and fry briefly. Then add the broth and tinned tomatoes, mix well and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer the mince curry for about 15 minutes.
  4. Now add in the garden peas. Cook everything for another 3-4 minutes. Taste and season the curry if needed. Sprinkle with the reserved spring onion greens and serve immediately.

La carne de pollo es la que utilizo para el curry, no lo he probado con otra, lo que sí le pongo siempre es leche de coco, tampoco caldo, supongo que este es diferente y por eso merece la pena probarlo.

Having made curries from all the 23 countries where such are the main dish at least twice a week all my life. . . I do like your version but would use at least medium strength powder . . . with a smille . . .

I made a similar chili last week. It ended up being one of my best. (grin) And I noticed this curry has many similar ingredients except the chili powder and some warm peppers. It looks delicious Angie. And thanks for sharing. I may have to try this sometime instead of chili.
