Poppy seed and plum rolls made with quark and oil dough are the perfect sweet treat for plum season! The dough prepared with flour, Quark and oil requires no proving time at all and is then filled with poppy and damson plums, rolled up and baked. These fruity, light and delicious rolls are just what you need for a cosy afternoon.

Quark and Oil DoughFilling
  • 350 g Plain flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 125 g Magerquark (German low fat curd cheese)
  • 125 ml Coconut oil, melted and cooled
  • 100 ml Milk
  • 2 pack Dr. Oetker poppy filling
  • 150 g Magerquark (German low fat curd cheese)
  • 1 Medium egg, separated
  • 70 g Walnuts, finely chopped, plus extra for the topping
  • 500 g Zwetschgen (Damson plums), halved
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F. Line the bottome of a 26-28 cm springform pan and lightly grease the sides.
  2. For the dough, mix the flour with the baking powder. Add sugar and mix together. Add the Quark, oil and milk, and briefly beat the ingredients with a hand mixer fitted with a dough hook until you have a smooth dough.
  3. On a lightly floured work surface, divide the dough into two portions. Roll each portion of dough into a 25x40 cm rectangle.
  4. For the filling, combine poppy filling with Quark and egg yolk.
  5. Spread half of the filling evenly on the dough and roll it up from a long side into a long log. Repeat with another portion of dough.
  6. Place one log, the seam side downwards, in a spiral shape starting from the centre and extending outwards onto the base of the springform tin. Attach the second log spirally around the first one. Arrange the plums in a tile-like pattern in the gaps of the dough spiral.
  7. Brush the dough with remaining egg white and sprinkle some finely chopped walnuts over.
  8. Bake in the middle of hot oven for 70 minutes until golden brown. Remove and set aside on a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes before removing the springform ring to cool completely.

Meine Got, that is so pretty and looks so moist und soft und fragrant. Bet it was heaven to eat. It is the season of plums. We had plum orchards when I was little but never used them for cakes as my grandpater used them for making slivovitza LOL

You’re kind of an inspiration for what I make. 😊 I’m finally making burgers tonight, and now these poppy plum rolls look so good too! The only question is, how am I going to make them gluten free?
