Like arugula, this bright purplish red radicchio has a slightly peppery and bitter taste. It is loaded with nutrients and has no fat or cholesterol. The salad, a perfect blend of sweet, sour, salty and bitter, tastes so crispy, really flavourful, and easy to throw together.

How pretty! A wonderful example of how a salad can be way more than iceberg lettuce. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWowo what a colorful and delicious salade.
ReplyDeletehow much orange juice to use in your orange vinaigrette recipe cos orange juice is not listed? thks
ReplyDeleteBelle
Not usually a fan of too tart and bitter, but you make this look so inviting and delicious!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Oops.sorry for that..you need 60ml orange juice for the dressing. Thanks, Belle.
ReplyDeletecan i use white rice vinegar instead of white balsamic vinegar?
ReplyDeleteorange vinaigrette can be used in what other ways?
thks Angie, for your quick response. Belle :)
A delicious mixture of contrasting colors and flavors.
ReplyDeleteThat look great.
ReplyDeleteI love salads and this salad is calling my name....
ReplyDeleteI simply enjoy anything with veg, its so healthy and your sharing making me drool now.
ReplyDeleteMmmm...that looks delicious! I love grapes in salad, give such a sweet taste to the salad.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Belle, yes, the flavour would be different though...well, it won't hurt to experiment with other types of acids. Maybe it would even turn out better. You can use vinaigrette in different kinds of salads (I like them simply with lollo roso, arugula, or iceberg)...or cut down the quantity and make the half.
ReplyDeleteI love that peppery bite in a salad combined with the sweetness of the fruit. Fantastic flavors, it looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI love bread and salad to go with balsamic vinegar! Like to have a try on this healthy salad!
ReplyDeleteGreat recipe--I have radicchio coming in my CSA box this week and this may be just the way to use it!
ReplyDeleteExquisita vinagreta de naranja es agridulce y queda todo muy bien complementado en especial con la pimienta,se acostumbra más con limón,ésta versión es realmente buena, abrazos hugs, hugs.

ReplyDeleteAngie, I am so using your orange vinaigrette here. Seriously! I just recently turned vegan and I'm soooo in need of new recipes. I've been looking here and there and now I am on your site for a long time!!! Goodness, can I just have you as my personal chef? Anyways, did I mention that I tried your olive and milt pesto? My gosh! I SOOOOOO SOOOO LOVED IT! I am growing mint and have used your recipe twice. Amazing as usual! LOVED IT! Thanks, Angie!

I wish various greens like raddichio were easier to find around here. As it is, I can only find them in mixed salad greens, I can't just buy them on their own. Wish I could make your lovely salad!

I wish I can stay near you Angie. So I can have healthy salad almost everyday :D
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that looks so healthy and colorful! I adore grapes in salads. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgonzola is one of my favourites. Having it in such a fresh salad sounds amazing. I have always loved the peppery-ness of arugula, but not the bitterness of radicchio. I suppose one can just leave it out, the other ingredients would more than compensate for the loss.
ReplyDeleteI looooove all the flavors going on in here!!! Yummy! This is my kind of salad!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your radicchio, gorgonzola salad, Angie! The orange vinaigrette is so perfect to cut the bitterness of the radicchio, and the sharpness of the cheese, to mellow, and balance the two. Yumm!
ReplyDeleteBTW-Did you purposely want the title spelled the way you did?...Shouldn't it be RADICCHIO?...(here I am, meddling again)...sorry if I'm wrong!
xoxo
What a beautiful salad, Angie, and the dressing sounds so good!
