Smarties Cookies

These crispy, soft and chewy Smarties cookies are a must-have at any children’s birthday party. They are both easy and quick to make and are sure to be a hit. Use whatever candy-coated sweets or chocolate buttons you like and drizzle the baked cookies with melted white chocolate if desired.

  • 125 g Butter, softened
  • 50 g White granulated sugar
  • 50 g Light brown sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 250 g Plain flour
  • 150 g Smarties
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F. Line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter with both types of sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix to combine. Add flour and mix to combine. Finally, fold through 3/4 of the Smarties until fully mixed.
  3. Take 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of the cookie dough, and roll into balls. Place the cookie dough balls on the baking trays, spacing them apart to allow for spreading.
  4. Press a few extra Smarties on top of the dought and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until just lightly golden around the edges. They're best enjoyed fresh from the oven. The rest will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

  5. Fabulous for a party! In Poland we had dragee from Czechia called Lentilky. I remember them from my childhood. It was very similar to Smarties

These are so fun and I imagine they taste wonderful. I have never had a Smarty — my nephew (who was raised in Britain) loves them!

  17. Oh, what beautiful cookies. These Smarties cookies are a delight to see. The vibrant pops of color from the chocolate buttons against the golden-baked dough make me feel a sense of nostalgic joy; they look like the perfect treat for a celebration. I especially appreciate the idea of drizzling them with white chocolate for that extra touch of sweetness.

  20. These look delicious! I’m guessing that your Smarties are like our M&Ms. Here we have Smarties, but they are small, round, tart, chalky candies that come in a roll wrapped in clear cellophane.
