Making your own blackberry infused vodka is quick, easy, and a great way to savour the flavors of a pile of foraged wild blackberries for summer fun! This recipe comes together with just a few ingredients and the spices are completely optional. I used 100 grams of sugar for the infusion, if you prefer it sweeter, use up to 250 grams.
- 500 g Ripe blackberries, fresh or frozen
- 1 Cinnamon stick, optional
- 1 Bay leaf, optional
- 1 Organic lemon peel, optional
- 100 g Golden caster sugar
- 700 ml – 1l Vodka
|
- Place blackberries in a sterilised 1.5-2-litre preserving jar or two 1-litre jars. Add in cinnamon stick, bay leaf, lemon peel and sugar. Pour over the vodka, seal the jar and swirl around to dissolve the sugar.
- Store in a cool, dark place to infuse for 4-6 weeks. Swirl the jar every day for the first week and then occasionally until none of the sugar is visible at the bottom of the jar.
- Strain the vodka through a fine mesh sieve into a sterilised bottle. Enjoy your delicious blackberry vodka chilled, with tonic water or sparkling wine. Store in the fridge to keep chill and consume within 2 months.
