Simple. Easy. Delicious. These black radish bites with smoked sockeye salmon and caviar are a great little appetizer that will wow your dinner party guests! So much flavour in such a small bite! If you feel like getting creative, arrange ingredients on an hors d’oeuvres spoon.

  • 1 / 300 g Medium-sized black radish
  • 1 tbsp Sea salt
  • 150 g Crème fraîche
  • 1 tbsp Fresh dill, chopped plus more for garnish
  • 80 g Smoked sockeye salmon, cut into fine strips
  • 6 tsp Caviar
  • Salt and pepper
  1. Clean the radish, wash and brush thoroughly under running water. Cut the radish into 12 very thin, even slices. Place the slices in a bowl, mix with sea salt and leave to stand for approx. 1 hour.
  2. Place the radish slices in a sieve, rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a paper towel. Mix crème fraîche with chopped dill, season with salt and pepper. Cut the smoked salmon into fine strips.
  3. Put the crème fraîche in a piping bag, cut off a small corner. Fold up two sides of the radish slices and pin with a wooden skewer. Pipe a small dollop of rème fraîche into the centre of each slice. Top each with a few strips of salmon and some caviar, arrange on plates and garnish with dill. Serve immediately.

Hi Angie, this is a fabulous appetizer. Now, I just have to find a black radish. Also, what is the taste difference with French dill. Bernadette

@Anonymous Bernadette, I have never heard of FRENCH dill. Or did you mean 'FRESH' dill?

These little bites look beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen black radish before, is the flavour like red radish?
